One of many reasons I'm looking forward to this adventure is that I've become more materialistic than I'd like to be. So I was actually looking forward to 'down-sizing' both permanently (hopefully) and even more so on the actual 12-month trip itself.The result: one 36-lb backpack with clothes, etc. and a daypack with my laptop, camera & accessories and carry-on essentials.
We're going from the Vegas heat to the Cook Islands to winter in New Zealand just in the first week and a half, so packing took some real planning - but I still have some room left!
