Today’s picnic lunch spot was on the banks of Lake Taupo, near Taurangi. It’s the biggest lake in New Zealand, so we’ve been driving along the banks for at least an hour or so. We shared our lunch area with lots of hungry birds, including some black swans that would come right up to our bench to beg.The lake was beautiful even in dreary weather, and I’ll have to plan to come back, maybe to do one of the float-plane rides or to go sailing or windsurfing.
